1. Texas A&M pulls off the shutout

One of the areas that has been a pleasant surprise for Texas A&M in the Jimbo Fisher era has been the defense because of Mike Elko’s presence as the defensive coordinator.

The former Notre Dame coordinator has been one of the most impressive pieces to the Aggies’ puzzle but he has yet to pitch a shutout this season. That will all change against the Roadrunners on Saturday afternoon.

Texas A&M has come close a couple of times, holding Texas State to seven points and Lamar to just three, so why not cap off non-conference play against lesser opponents with a shutout?

The Roadrunners’ offense is not good — and that’s putting it nicely. They average about 322 total yards per game and 19.4 points, so a shutout isn’t out of the realm of possibility. They are coming off a game in which they scored a “whopping” 31 points in a win over Rice, but that’s not happening here.
