2. The staff finally let Bo Nix sling the ball around

Bo Nix hasn’t been completely trusted by the staff this season, and that’s fair because not many coaches of top-15 teams allow their freshman quarterbacks to throw it 30-40 times per game, let alone start true freshmen.

The Tigers’ freshman gunslinger had himself an impressive game, completing 30-of-44 passes for 340 yards and he rushed for another 20 yards. He set career-highs in attempts and passing yards and looked like a quarterback who was capable of an increased workload against SEC opponents.

While we likely won’t see this type of game against teams like Georgia and Alabama to close out the season, but we could see him get a longer leash against Samford.

If Saturday’s game was any indication, though, the staff feels more comfortable letting Nix take control of the game through the air. Giving him 44 opportunities to pass the ball is a good sign for him and the confidence he’s gaining as well as the trust the staff has for him.
