Memphis pulled off a huge win at home in Week 10, toppling No. 15 SMU 54-48 in one of the most thrilling shootouts of the entire weekend. The Tigers traded punches with their AAC West rivals all night long at the Liberty Bowl, but the Mustangs proved incapable of mounting a successful comeback in the final minutes of the game after pulling within a single score.

Brady White had a huge game at quarterback, throwing for 350 yards and three touchdowns on 19-of-33 passing. Kenneth Gainwell had a relatively quiet night on the ground, rushing for 88 yards and one score on 21 carries. The running back was upstaged by Antonio Gibson, a senior receiver that reeled off a 78-yard touchdown run and finished with 97 rushing yards to go with six catches for 130 yards and a receiving score.

Memphis takes a bye after the SMU test to recharge ahead of the final stretch of the regular season. Sitting at 8-1, the Tigers return to the field with back-to-back road games against Houston and South Florida on November 16 and November 23 before hosting Cincinnati in the regular-season finale on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
