2. The Heisman struggle

We all know that the Heisman Trophy, despite their alleged “mission statement” ends up being an MVP award for college football. Statistics heavily influence the voters with regard to who they feel is the most valuable player or who is most deserving of the award. This year, LSU’s Joe Burrow appears to be running away with the 2019 Heisman Race.

Of course, Joe Burrow is having an amazing year, which has been highlighted by a win over Alabama. But, he is also benefiting significantly from the amount of great players on the Ohio State Buckeyes. Justin Fields, J. K. Dobbins, and Chase Young are all having Heisman-type of years. But, because Fields and Dobbins have to be on the field at the same time, there aren’t enough yards and touchdowns to go around for them to seriously set themselves apart like Burrow has with the Tigers.

Furthermore, because the Buckeyes have been blowing out every team, and Young had a two game suspension, his numbers have been hindered as well.

If these three players were on different teams, we could be looking at a vastly different Heisman picture.
