Honorable mentions

Feleipe Franks ending up at these schools would be the biggest surprise, but not completely out of the realm of possibility. Entering the portal with one year of eligibility left is tricky, because you want as close of a guaranteed starting job as possible.

If you want to compete and possibly start, you could stay where you were. Franks is no different. These four schools, however, did offer Franks while he was still in high school though it’s unclear if he is still on their list.

Georgia

This completely hinges on if current starting quarterback Jake Fromm bolts for the NFL at the end of this season. If he leaves early, there isn’t much of a quarterback room left in Athens. The Bulldogs have four star Dwan Mathis waiting in the wings, but he might not be ready. Franks could step in for a year for Mathis to get ready. Behind him is a bunch of walk-ons, so he would definitely add to the quarterback room. Not sure if the Bulldogs have any interest, but it would be interesting for Franks to end up at one of Florida’s rivals.

Alabama

This, like Georgia is contingent on their starting quarterback leaving for the NFL. Tua Tagovailoa will in all likelihood move on from Alabama and go for greener pastures of the NFL.

There is, however, a possibility that Tua doesn’t want his college career to with an injury and he comes back and makes good on winning a national championship. However small, it is a possibility. If Tua does leave — he more than likely will — the Alabama quarterback room gets really small really quickly.

Mac Jones played unbelievably well in the Iron Bowl, but that’s no guarantee the Crimson Tide are all in on Jones. Tua’s younger brother Taulia Tagovailoa is on the roster, but he’s raw and probably not ready for the starting job yet. Franks could compete for the starting gig with Jones if he wanted, but he’ll probably wants to go somewhere with more of a guarantee.

Here are more probable landing spots for Franks.
