2. Georgia Bulldogs

Assuming junior quarterback Jake Fromm declares for the 2020 NFL Draft, Georgia will be searching for their next quarterback. Many thought it was going to be then five-star recruit Justin Fields, but he has found success elsewhere.

Before diving into why KJ Costello would fit, you have to ask yourself, who is going to take over if Fromm leaves? The current backup is Stetson Bennett who was a junior college transfer from Jones County JC. The Bulldogs have D’Wan Mathis as the third-stringer and four-star Carson Beck from the 2020 class, but if given the chance to have Costello, he would immediately improve the quarterback room.

Costello would be coming into an offense that can be closely compared to Stanford’s — a team that primarily runs the ball with elite-level running backs. While the Bulldogs’ two leading rushers, D’Andre Swift and Brian Herrien, are more than likely leaving after the Sugar Bowl, current true freshman Zamir White will take over where they left off, being the elite back Georgia is accustomed to seeing.

The reason Kirby Smart has been so conservative this season on offense has been due to the lack of weapons at the disposal for Fromm. Next season, things should be better in the wide out position, as leading receiver George Pickens will return for his sophomore season.

Add Dominick Blaylock — assuming he recovers in time from his torn ACL — and four different four-star wide receivers in their 2020 class and Georgia will be locked, loaded and young at skill positions next season.

The most appealing aspect of UGA is that Costello may have the best chance to win with the Bulldogs. Looking at the 2020 schedule, yes, they must travel to Tuscaloosa, but their toughest road game after that is either South Carolina or Kentucky. They get rivals Auburn, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech all at home while playing the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party in Jacksonville against Florida as usual.

As the reigning three-time SEC East champs, there is no reason the Bulldogs will not be the favorite going into the 2020 season — especially if Costello is under center.
