Texas A&M Football: 3 takeaways from Texas Bowl win vs. Oklahoma State
By Shelbie Warr
1. Kellen Mond’s legs were a game-changer
Kellen Mond ended up the MVP of this game with 117 rushing yards. Of course, 67 yards of that came on one play and it ended up being the most important play of the season — a touchdown that put the Aggies up and up for good.
His next big run would set up the field goal that would put the game out of reach for Oklahoma State.
At many points, Jimbo Fisher has been quoted as saying that Mond wouldn’t be using his legs as much as he becomes a more experienced quarterback. Whether it was part of the game plan or not, using his legs was a big part of the win for the Aggies. He was able to bail out his less than stellar throws at times with the big plays he was able to make with his legs.
Congratulations to Mond on his MVP award and on a win for a very young team who has a lot to grow on from this.
