Florida football finished the 2019 season with 11 wins. How did the Gators grade out, by position, in Dan Mullen’s second year?

Dan Mullen has just completed his second full season as the head coach with the Florida Gators. He has led Florida to back-to-back double-digit wins for the first since Florida’s 2008 and 2009 teams. Those teams were led by Florida all-time great Tim Tebow.

Mullen definitely has Florida moving in the right direction this year as they finished 11-2. Their only two losses were to Georgia and LSU. They played both those teams extremely close. They lost to the national champs by 14 and to the SEC east champs by seven.

What makes Florida’s 2019 season even more impressive is that they did it with a guy at quarterback who didn’t even start for his varsity football program in high school. Kyle Trask’s story has been told time and time again this year, but his performance is a big reason why Florida finished the year the way it did.

When starting quarterback Feleipe Franks went down against Kentucky, it looked like Florida’s season was going to tank, but it got better and had a great season.

Florida was good offensively and defensively as they proved to be a very balanced team in that regard. Expectations will be high next year for the 2020 Florida Gators, but before we get into next season, let’s grade the 2019 team.
