This spot was going to be for Princely Umanmielen, but it seems as if the Sooners have recently fallen out of the running for the four-star defensive end who was once committed to Texas and is now considering Baylor, Florida, Auburn and the Longhorns again.

That means Oklahoma can just focus on four-star defensive end commit Reggie Grimes who committed to the Sooners back in November and didn’t sign early.

Luckily for Oklahoma, Grimes has stated that he is not exploring his options and is solely focus on Oklahoma, but you always have to worry just slightly when a kid decides not to sign in the early period when he’s already been committed. Grimes decided to wait to sign until February’s signing day which had some Sooner fans worried.

All that worry will go away on Wednesday, though, if he inks his letter of intent with no surprises or hiccups. Until it’s official, he remains a target — and an important one at that.

Grimes is ranked the No. 123 overall recruit and eighth-best weak-side defensive end in the 2020 class as well as the No. 5 player from the state of Tennessee, per 247Sports.
