I’ve been a fan of Alante Brown since his high school days in Chicago, but he was expected to go to Michigan State and then Texas Tech before heading down the prep school route for a year and then picking Nebraska. He had plenty of suitors as the No. 1 prep school prospect in the nation and decided that Scott Frost’s offense was the best fit.

Brown was a four-star recruit out of high school and then maintained that star rating at St. Thomas More and should join the regular rotation of receivers for the Cornhuskers.

Kanawai Noa will be gone while JD Spielman and Wan’Dale Robinson will be back next season so Brown could join the starting trio of wide outs, but he’ll likely be more on the two-deep. What helps his case for early playing time even more is the fact that he’s an early enrollee, giving him a leg up on Zavier Betts, William Nixon and Omar Manning who are signed receivers nut not enrolled yet.

If the Cornhuskers want an electric pass-catcher who could turn a short slant into a 50-yard touchdown, Brown is the guy. He’s going to be a solid player at the next level and reminds me a little of Penn State’s KJ Hamler.
