Although he’s not enrolled early, Quentin Johnston is one of those signees who will have to see the field immediately because he’s just too talented not to.

The Temple, Texas, native is ranked the No. 70 player in the country as well as the 14th-best receiver in the 2020 class. Every major program in Texas was trying to land him and keep him close to home, but Gary Patterson won the major recruiting battle over the Longhorns down the road.

Charles Power of 247Sports gave him an interesting comparison to Martavis Bryant and he definitely has the size at 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds. He could afford to add some meat on his bones, but his frame is exactly what TCU wants at receiver.

Jalen Reagor, the team’s leading receiver from last year, is gone and so is TreVontae Hights. The latter isn’t a major loss because he had just eight catches last year, but that still opens up a spot on the two-deep for Johnston.

Throw the ball in Johnston’s direction and he’s going to snag it. This kid is a future star at TCU and I wouldn’t be surprised if he flirted with the Freshman All-American team in 2020.
