Notre Dame Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2020
While I think Navy could be a decent test for Notre Dame to start the season in Ireland, the Badgers will probably be the first ranked team the Irish face (depending on how much preseason respect the Midshipmen get).
Wisconsin will be down an All-American running back but return Jack Coan for another season. The Badgers could be the favorites to win the Big Ten West again and should have somewhat of a home-field advantage here, playing in Wisconsin, but the Irish will be on a roll at this point and I can’t see them dropping this one.
This one goes down to the wire.
Final Score: Notre Dame 28, Wisconsin 24 (5-0)
Another week, another game that’s not a true away game. Through six weeks of the season, the Irish will have played three home games and three neutral site games. Two of those neutral site games do come in the state of the opponent, but it’s still not a true road game.
The Irish return back home from Green Bay and a ranked battle with Wisconsin to face Stanford at the mid-point of the season. The Cardinal no longer have KJ Costello who transferred to Mississippi State to play for Mike Leach, so this is yet another team with a question mark at quarterback and whose defense has been lackluster in recent years.
Advantage: Notre Dame.
Final Score: Stanford 17, Notre Dame 31 (6-0)
