Dan Mullen has Florida football in a position to win an SEC title for the first time in his tenure and a favorable 2020 schedule should help.

In just a couple of seasons, Dan Mullen has transformed Florida back into a contender. The Gators won a couple of division titles under Jim McElwain, but it just didn’t feel like the program of old that was contending for national titles and was taken seriously in the SEC Championship.

The Gators finished the 2019 season with an 11-2 record and No. 6 rank in the final AP Poll. It was an overall successful season for Florida and the only way the program has been trending over the past couple of years is upward.

That won’t change in 2020.

Florida has a perfect mixture of returning talent, veterans, an elite incoming recruiting class and a favorable schedule that could land this team in a good spot come December.

Mullen has proven he can win and recruit in Gainesville, but there’s one major hurdle he has to overcome and that’s winning the SEC. On top of that, if he wins the SEC with Florida, there’s an overwhelming assumption that his team would make the playoff because, well, the conference has provided multiple champions and was the first to feature two teams in the national semifinal.

Will the Gators take advantage of a favorable schedule and plenty of incoming and returning talent in 2020 to make a push at the playoff?
