Another ‘bye’ week for the Tigers as Nicholls comes to town and this one will be another confidence-booster for Myles Brennan and the young backfield and receivers.

The defense, once again, will have a sparkling game but facing these cupcake offenses will only make it difficult when they have to face teams like Florida, Alabama, Texas A&M and Auburn later in the year. Still, the stats will look great through five games because of the lack of solid opponents (outside of Texas) and Nicholls will be sent home with tails between legs.

Final Score: Nicholls 7, LSU 45 (5-0)

The first true road test comes in Week 6 against a tough Florida team that should be a contender to win the SEC, just like LSU.

Kyle Trask returns for his second season as the starter and Lorenzo Lingard could gain immediate eligibility as a running back transfer from Miami which should boost that backfield. Oh, and the receivers for the Gators and defense should be solid once again.

This one will be a low-scoring affair and tightly-contested throughout, but I’m giving the advantage here to the home team.

Final Score: LSU 17, Florida 21 (5-1, 1-1)
