The Green Packers shocked the NFL world by trading up for Utah State quarterback Jordan Love. Here’s how NFL Twitter reacted.

In perhaps the biggest surprise of the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft was the Green Bay Packers decision to move up four spots to draft Utah State quarterback Jordan Love with the 26th overall pick of the draft.

The Packers traded their 30th overall pick and the draft’s 136th overall selection to the Miami Dolphins for the 26th pick used on Love.

Love threw for 3,042 yards with 20 touchdowns and 17 interceptions as a Junior in 2019. His best year came in 2018 when he threw for 3,567 yards with 32 touchdowns and just six interceptions.

In Green Bay, Love will be expected to be the eventual predecessor to Aaron Rodgers. The 36-year-old Rodgers is a two-time NFL MVP and led the Packers to a victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl 45.

With the massive surprise, Packers fans and the Football world took their opinions to the playground that is Twitter.

Love is expected to sit behind Rodgers for at least two to three years in Green Bay. This would be similar to his new teammate as Rodgers sat behind Hall of Famer Brett Favre for three seasons despite being selected in the first round of the 2005 Draft.

Green Bay will hope Rodgers serves as a quality mentor. The former MVP has a track record of sometimes not being on the same page as teammates, so his reaction to the selection could end up determining Love’s eventual success.

The Packers are coming off a 13-3 season that saw them reach to the NFC Championship Game where they fell to San Francisco.

They’re expected to be on the market for wide receivers, linebackers and offensive line help throughout the final six rounds.
