Alabama Football: Recapping bracket of best moments under Nick Saban
By Dakota Cox
We have been breaking down the 68 best Alabama football moments since Nick Saban took over in Tuscaloosa. How did the bracket finish?
Alabama football has had so many iconic moments in recent memory. Over five championships, 33 first-round picks, and all sorts of records, you are bound to have some memorable moments. Although some are upsetting, almost every memory of the Tide since Saban has a positive connotation.
Over the past few weeks, we have been breaking down the 68 greatest moments of this Alabama dynasty. Moments included some of Nick Saban’s best quotes, overall games, or highlight plays on the field. I determined the seeding, and Alabama fans voted on Twitter for each matchup. Let’s take a look at their results.
Final Four moments
The final four moments include 2nd and 26, Rocky Block, the onside kick vs. Clemson, and the 2012 SEC Championship game vs. Georgia. The Georgia game was a bit surprising, but I guess it fits all of the needs for a great Tide moment. It was against a rival, in a championship year, in the postseason, and it included specific moments that we all remember.
Who could forget the tackle on Aaron Murray after the interception? Or Georgia’s reaction as time ran out in the red zone without a quality play. It was a historic game. I just was not expecting it to beat moments like Yeldon’s screen touchdown vs. LSU or Jalen Hurts’ comeback in the SEC Championship.
Despite this impressive run, it did not make it to the championship round. According to Twitter polls, the two greatest moments of the Nick Saban era at Alabama were 2nd and 26 and Rocky Block. Going into this, I expected these two moments. It’s almost poetic. One moment sparked the Tide dynasty, while the other was the last great moment we’ve experienced.
Nick Saban will have plenty of moments to reflect on when he inevitably retires, and I hope that he has many more before that day comes. However, it appears that these are the top two.
Winner: 2nd and 26
