Nebraska Football: Top 3 Cornhusker prospects for 2021 NFL Draft
Four years ago, Dedrick Mills was on track to have one heck of a career at Georgia Tech, but it’s wild how things have changed in such a short period of time.
In 2016 with the Yellow Jackets, he finished with 771 yards and 12 touchdowns on 5.1 yards per carry. He was a budding star in the Yellow Jackets’ triple-option offense and looked like the future of Georgia Tech’s backfield. And then he decided to transfer.
Mills’ decision to transfer to Nebraska paid major dividends as he became a major part of the Cornhuskers’ offense. He finished with 745 yards and 10 touchdowns on 5.2 yards per carry as a junior. He has plenty of upside as a thick 5-foot-11, 220-pound back. He’s tough to bring down and he should be the center of Nebraska’s backfield in 2020.
Not many backs have the size of Mills and he should surpass 2,500 career rushing yards in three seasons of action in 2020 and that could help him reach late-round selection status.
