The Ole Miss Rebels are another program in the SEC West who is debuting a new head coach. This season Lane Kiffin makes his return to the Power Five and the SEC taking over the Rebels program. As an offensive coach, he has pieces to work with.

In addition to having two solid quarterbacks in John Rhys Plumlee and Matt Corral, the Rebels have a solid 1-2 punch in the backfield with Snoop Conner and Jarrion Early. The Rebels’ leading receiver Elijah Moore returns as well.

What Kiffin and the Mississippi defensive coaching staff does not have is depth in the front seven. Though the defense was solid — even with LSU and Alabama on the schedule — there was not a lot in terms of a pass rush.

Demon Clowney is the versatile player the Rebels need. He can play both a 3-4 outside linebacker and defensive end in passing situations. Last season Mississippi had only two pass rushers with at least five sacks.

If the last name looks familiar, Demon is the cousin of NFL defensive end, and former No. 1 draft pick Jadeveon Clowney. He inherited some of his cousin’s prowess as well. He is explosive off of the snap and gets to the quarterback quickly.

Clowney is fast enough to track down plays on the backside. He needs to get stronger, but that will happen as he’s in the program. While Kiffin sorts out who’s playing quarterback, he has a prospect who can sack them.
