Major Harris helped put West Virginia football on the map with his can’t miss versatility at the quarterback position.

In three seasons at WVU, Harris threw for 5,119 yards and 41 touchdowns with 2,058 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns.

After leading the Mountaineers to a 6-6 campaign in 1987, Harris led West Virginia to one of their best seasons in school history in 1998. He threw for 1,915 yards and 14 touchdowns with 610 rushing yards and six touchdowns as WVU posted an 11-1 record that included a perfect regular season and their lone loss coming to consensus national champion Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.

In 1989, Harris finished third in Heisman voting after throwing for 2,058 yards and 17 touchdowns with 936 rushing yards and six touchdowns. West Virginia went 8-3 on the season but fell to Clemson in the Gator Bowl.

Harris was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2009.
