Nebraska Football: 3 burning questions heading into 2020
By Dante Pryor
1. Who are Nebraska football’s playmakers?
We know what Wan’Dale Robinson is supposed to be able to do. He has not scratched the surface of how good he can be primarily because he was making the transition to receiver. Next season he should improve on his 6.2 yards per touch and five touchdowns.
Where else do the Cornhuskers get their production this season? J.D. Spielman, last season’s leading receiver, has entered the transfer portal. So not only do the Huskers take a hit as far as their production, they still need a dynamic playmaker.
It’s difficult to win football games without a home run hitter somewhere on the field offensively. You can even hide average quarterback play with enough dynamic players. This is a young group of receivers, so expect junior college wide receiver Omar Manning to see a lot of snaps.
They expect Kade Warner to step up this season. He has to produce due to the loss of Spielman. If there is one thing the Cornhuskers do not want is for their offense to become “Robinson or bust”.
Scott Frost’s offense relies heavily on speed. They need guys who can get down the field. There is little doubt that Martinez has the arm to get the ball down the field, but who is the guy that is going to catch those passes?
Who steps up?
