Jeff Brohm took over at Purdue a few years ago and after improving the program immediately and making two straight bowl games, the Boilermakers took a step back in 2019, winning four games.

The Boilermakers suffered through a plethora of injuries so that definitely played a part in the 4-8 season, but will the return of Jack Plummer and Rondale Moore get them back to a bowl? That’s the overwhelming feeling, but contending in the Big Ten West is a different story.

Michigan State has fallen on some hard times in recent years, winning just 14 games over the past two seasons with mediocre bowl appearances and now the program is heading in a new direction with Mark Dantonio retiring and Mel Tucker taking over.

Tucker is a solid recruiter and should turn the program back into a perennial contender, but that’s not going to happen in year one.

This game could be tough because Tucker knows the importance of this rivalry and it’ll take place in East Lansing, but the Wolverines have won the last two matchups in Spartan Stadium.
