With a veteran quarterback and talented roster, Florida football has its sights set on its first SEC and national championship since 2008.

After back-to-back double-digit win campaigns in his first two seasons as head coach of the Gators, Dan Mullen has Florida thinking big in 2020.

Senior quarterback Kyle Trask is the most experienced returning passer in the SEC this season and he has some talented targets in tight end Kyle Pitts and wide receiver Trevon Grimes. The defense will get a boost with defensive back Marco Wilson returning from injury.

There are questions to be answered, however. Four of the Gators’ top receivers are gone, as well as starting running back Lamical Perine. The offensive line struggled at times last year and will need to be more consistent, especially in SEC play. The defense will have to replace its top two pass rushers in Jabari Zuniga and Jonathan Greenard, its top linebacker David Reese and star cornerback CJ Henderson.

The schedule sets up nicely, however, as Florida replaces Auburn with Ole Miss in the SEC crossover game and the majority of the tougher games will be at home.

If Florida can find new playmakers at some key spots, they will have a chance to make it to the SEC championship for the first time since 2016.

Here’s how I see Florida’s 2020 season playing out.
