There has been a lot of chatter about the USC program in general over the past few seasons. A lot of it criticizing the recruiting job of Clay Helton and his staff but this freshman they brought on for the 2019 season was electric.

Kedon Slovis finished third in the NCAA with a 72 percent completion rate which was also No. 1 in the Pac-12. After throwing 30 touchdown passes with 3,502 yards through the air, Slovis showed he was the real deal in his first season with the Trojans.

Slovis’ ability to fit the ball through tight windows was impressive to say the least. It’s one thing to be accurate but Slovis has the confidence to make those types of small window throws. Being able to combine that accuracy and confidence is almost unheard of for freshman quarterbacks.

The now-sophomore lost his favorite target in Michael Pittman, but does get his second favorite back in Amon-Ra St. Brown. He will also pick up another intriguing target in Bru McCoy, a highly-touted transfer from Texas who will get his first chance to show how dynamic he can be.

Week 1 against Alabama will be a great challenge for Slovis, and if he can pass that test, he will be sure to pick up some Heisman consideration.
