Florida Football: Constructing the perfect 10-game schedule for the Gators
The 2020 season will be an interesting one for Florida football and if the Gators want to make the playoff, they’ll hope it looks like this.
Plenty of uncertainty surrounds the 2020 season for SEC football fans and that includes Gator faithful who were hoping to see their team compete for a conference title and a spot in the College Football Playoff.
With the SEC announcing that it would be joining the rest of the Power Five in adjusting its 2020 schedule to conference-only games, the waiting game has begun. The conference is still finalizing the schedule and it will likely be released later this month, but until then, all we can do is speculate.
There are eight games that will be set in stone for the Gators and even though the dates for each game will likely be changed, as well as the order, there’s some hope that things will start to feel like normal this fall. Sure, the limited fans will make it feel different, but watching college football will be a nice change from the MLB, NHL and NBA games this summer.
It does seem almost inevitable that the season will be cancelled due to COVID-19 creeping into college football locker rooms across the nation, but until then, we’ll just assume it’s still on.
With eight opponents on a 10-game schedule set in stone, who could fill out the remainder of the slate for the Gators?
What would the ideal Florida football schedule look like for 2020?
