Games 4-6 of Florida football’s ideal schedule

Another winnable game in the early stages of the season, getting Ole Miss on the road right before the Gators’ first bye would be a nice gift. This is almost a sure-win as well and it could send the Gators into a bye week before another big matchup with momentum.

Ole Miss is under the direction of first-year head coach Lane Kiffin and it’ll be a rebuilding season for the Rebels as they prepare for better things down the line.

Arguably the second-toughest game of Florida’s schedule is LSU and the ideal Florida schedule would give the Gators a bye week after the Ole Miss game to prepare for the Tigers at home.

Obviously this isn’t a perfect world and the chances of this happening are slim to none, but in the spirit of creating the perfect schedule, the Gators get a bye to prepare for LSU. No, they no longer have Joe Burrow, but this team is going to be a handful even with Myles Brennan at quarterback and that defense is always tough.

The first game to not appear on the original 2020 schedule but on this ideal one is Arkansas. If the Gators are going to have to add two cross-divisional games to the schedule, they would obviously want to avoid Auburn, Alabama and Texas A&M and instead pick up a matchup with the league’s worst team.

Arkansas has been a dumpster fire for years and Chad Morris might be gone and replaced with Sam Pittman, but the new head coach has a lot of work to do.

This would be a cakewalk, even on the road, for Florida.
