Sept. 26. Ole Miss Rebels. 1. player. 841. Scouting Report. Oxford (Miss.). Pick Analysis

The Gators will open the season in what could be a tricky game against Ole Miss and new head coach Lane Kiffin. The Rebels could be a sneaky-good team in the SEC due to the offensive talent they have if they can improve one of the worst defenses in the SEC.

These two teams don’t play each other often and the last contest came in 2015, with the Gators blowing out the Rebels 38-10. Ole Miss’ last victory against Florida was the 2008 upset win over the Tim Tebow-led Gators.

Rebels quarterback John Rhys Plumlee was one of the best runners in the entire conference last season, but he will have improve a lot as a passer because Kiffin will take a more balanced approach on the offensive side of the ball rather that the run heavy approach used by Rich Rodriguez. Ole Miss will hope DJ Durkin can turn the defense around and I think that will be the big key to whether the Rebels have a surprise season.

The Gators should win comfortably as long as they aren’t overconfident to open the season up

Final Score: Florida 42, Ole Miss 17 (1-0)

Oct. 3. Gainesville (Fla.). South Carolina Gamecocks. 2. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 850

In a game that should be known as the “Will Muschamp Bowl”, Florida hosts South Carolina for their 2020 homecoming contest and Dan Mullen is looking to move his record against South Carolina to 3-0 since he took over the Gators.

This will be a big year for former Florida and current South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp, as the 4-8 record he had last season nearly cost him his job.

South Carolina should have a solid offense, with quarterback Ryan Hilinski back under center and a more proven offensive coordinator in former Georgia assistant Mike Bobo. The defense should be solid yet again but the Gamecocks success will depend on how they replace some of their top playmakers on offense.

The Gators make it three in a row over South Carolina.

Final Score: Florida 35, South Carolina 21 (2-0)
