Florida Football: Updated game-by-game predictions for 2020 season
A rivalry that has seen Florida famously win 32 of the last 33 games, Kentucky has played the Gators very tough since Mark Stoops has taken over the program and the Wildcats are going to be thinking upset in 2020.
Kentucky is coming off of an 8-5 season in 2019 and that is amazing considering how one dimensional the Wildcats’ offense became after starting quarterback Terry Wilson went down with an injury. Lynn Bowden did a fine job running the offense for Kentucky, but there was not much of a threat of a passing game and that should improve with Wilson returning.
Kentucky is returning 17 starters from an eight-win team and they won’t be an easy matchup for anyone. This has the makings of a potential upset, but Dan Mullen will have the Gators ready to play and avoid another setback in the SEC East.
Final Score: Florida 27, Kentucky 20 (6-3)
For the last game of the season for the Gators, Florida will travel to Neyland Stadium to take on Tennessee and for the first time in some years, there is an actual buzz around the Volunteers and their football program and this will be a chance for them to show they can contend in the SEC East in the future
Tennessee is returning 18 starters and will boast one of the best offensive lines in the country and should be stingy on the defensive side of the ball. A lot will rest on senior quarterback Jarrett Guarantano to take the necessary leaps for the Vols to contend.
The Vols will already be battle tested by the time that they play the Gators, as they will have faced Alabama and Georgia and that should be a good indicator of how good Tennessee should be in 2020.
Florida has won three straight in the series and has dominated it for the better part of the last couple of decades, as the Volunteers have only beaten the Gators three times since 2003. Make it four in a row for the Gators, but Tennessee is improving, they just aren’t ready to make the big leap yet, however.
Final Score: Florida 38, Tennessee 28 (7-3)
