Ole Miss and Florida football matched up well, but by the end it was the Gators who ran away with this track meet. What did we learn from this one?

The Gators and the Rebels matched up to kick off the SEC season and it was an exciting one for sure. There were a couple questionable penalties, but overall this was the Gators game to lose and they proved that.

Let’s talk takeaways instead, shall we?

3. The Kyles of Florida steal the show

Kyle Trask threw six touchdown passes. Kyle Pitts grabbed four of them.

Let’s start with Trask. We expected him to be one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC, but man did he prove that he was on the field on Saturday afternoon. He passed for 416 yards. He averaged 9.9 yards a throw. He, along with Joe Burrow, are the only two quarterbacks to throw for six touchdowns in an SEC opener.

Oh yeah, then there is Pitts, the tight end for Florida. This kid just made himself a lot of money in the future with four touchdown catches for the Gators — eight catches for 170 yards, averaging 21.3 yards a catch. He showed that he is going to be a matchup nightmare for anyone and everyone that this team is going to play in the upcoming weeks.
