Florida football went on the road and dropped a tough loss to No. 21 Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon. What’d we learn from this one?

Florida has to feel absolutely crushed. Despite piecing together yet another solid offensive performance behind Kyle Trask, the Gators were downed in the final seconds by Texas A&M as the Aggies kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired to make it 41-38.

The Gators’ playoff hopes took a massive hit as well as SEC title aspirations, but there’s still time to turn everything around. Well, not if that defense continues to struggle.

3. This is not the Florida defense we’re used to seeing

When you think of Florida football, one of the first things that comes to mind is elite defense, especially in that secondary. That doesn’t seem to be the case so far this year.

Through three games, the Gators have been torched through the air and on the ground as the defense is not something we’re used to seeing. It’s been battered and embarrassed through three contests and that’s not what you expect from a title contender.

Florida allowed 160 rushing yards to Isaiah Spiller and then allowed 264 yards and three touchdowns to a struggling Kellen Mond who looked lost against Alabama.

This Florida defense needs to figure itself out — and fast.
