2. Mississippi State shocked in 24-2 loss to Kentucky

After their shocking 44-34 win over the No. 6 LSU Tigers in the first week of SEC play, people have been expecting big things from the Mississippi State offense. The air-raid offense of Mississippi State was stopped by Arkansas as they took care of the Bulldogs 21-14.

This past Saturday, the Bulldogs looked to rebound against the Kentucky Wildcats, but they crashed once again in a big loss with a 24-2 score.

The win over the Tigers was too good to be true as the air raid grew to a high level of productivity but they are lacking in overall efficiency. The Bulldogs out-gained the Wildcats in total yards 295-157 and first downs 18-10. The biggest difference was the six turnovers, all from interceptions.

Mississippi State graduate transfer K.J. Costello passed for 232 yards, four interceptions and a 22 QBR on 36-of-55 completions. The Bulldogs pulled Costello for the fresh arm of true freshman quarterback Will Rodgers, who did not fare any better. Rodgers passed for 43 yards, two interceptions and a QBR of 20 on 9-of-15 completions. There were six Wildcats that accounted for an interception against the Bulldogs.

After a two-game losing streak to Arkansas and Kentucky, Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach is looking to make some legitimate changes to the team by getting rid of malcontents from the team. Expect the Bulldogs to stay in the bottom of the SEC as they fell from grace after their big win over LSU.
