Georgia football takes on the Alabama Crimson Tide without Nick Saban in the game of the year so far. Here’s how the Bulldogs win.

Could this finally be the year that Georgia, under Kirby Smart, beats Alabama?

That is the question every Bulldog fan is wondering as we approach what should be the game of the year in the regular season.

It feels like it has been a long time coming, even though the Bulldogs had a few good chances in the past including the infamous national championship game. This might sound dramatic, but if Georgia wins, the balance of power in the SEC could shift away from Alabama for the next decade as their neighbors to the east will be an annual rival for the SEC title.

Georgia is coming off another impressive victory after overcoming an early challenge vs. Tennessee, winning 44-21. Once again, the defense looked legit as they incredibly limited the Tennessee rushing attack to a total of -1 rushing yards. As the game went on, the defensive line took over, shutting out the Volunteers in the second half and forcing several turnovers.

Meanwhile, Stetson Bennett continued to show poise. His connection with Kearis Jackson continued to improve as Jackson appears to have become the clear No. 2 receiver on this team.

On the other hand, Alabama managed to just survive a shootout against Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss, winning 63-48.

Najee Harris ran wild for over 200 yards, and Mac Jones appears to be in the running for the Heisman by throwing for over 400 yards last week. However, incredibly, the Tide also gave up over 600 yards. While Ole Miss’ offense is great, Alabama’s defense looked nothing like what we are used to seeing in the past.

Finally, on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, the immovable object that is Georgia meets the irresistible force that is Alabama.

That said, more than just defense alone, Georgia will need to be good in all three phases of the game in order to win.

Putting aside the recent news that Nick Saban has tested positive for COVID-19 and surely will not be on the sideline for the game, here are three reasons why Georgia football can beat Alabama.
