BYU Football: 3 takeaways from blowout win over Texas State
2. The Zach Wilson-Dax Milne duo is fun to watch
Earlier in the season, it was the Zach Wilson and Gunner Romney show. Over the past few weeks, the BYU quarterback has developed a new favorite target as Dax Milne has risen to the top of the leaderboard in terms of 2020 Cougar receivers.
Romney is second on the team with 456 yards and two touchdowns on 21 receptions, but Milne is No. 1 on BYU with 37 receptions for 639 yards and five touchdowns. The latter’s connection is looking much more intriguing than Wilson-Romney and that’s something I didn’t see developing after the strong start by that combo.
Milne had four catches for 89 yards and a touchdown against Texas State which was surprisingly his worst outing since the opener when he had three catches for 35 yards against Navy.
These two have a seriously impressive connection as Milne hasn’t finished with less than 89 yards receiving in a single game outside of Navy. He has three 100-yard games on the year and has caught at least seven passes in four out of the past five games. He’s also caught four touchdown passes over the past two games.
Keep an eye on this connection as it’s becoming one of the best in the country.
