1. Quick takeaways for Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina won despite facing adversity. Chanticleers’ head coach Jamey Chadwell has to feel good about how his team responded to winning an ugly game. The defense was outstanding, limiting one of the better running teams to a season-low in rushing yards. Back up quarterback Fred Payton played well despite the lack of a running game throwing three touchdowns.

The victory keeps the Chanticleers in first place in the Sun Belt. Since they are undefeated with a win against a Power 5 school, they keep their opportunity for a New Year’s Six bowl alive. The Chanticleers might not have enough schedule, but they stay in the conversation.

Quick takeaways for Georgia Southern

The Eagles have shown their ceiling as a football team. Once again, the Eagles play an opponent very tough, but they did not have enough offense to win the day. The Eagles have consistently been a mid-tier team in the Sun Belt.

The defense played a potent rushing attack well, but the Eagle did not have enough offense to win the game. The Eagles should make a lower-level bowl game, but the Eagles need more offense if they want to become a contender in the Sun Belt.
