2. Rakeem Boyd showed flashes of his old self

While he is by no means officially “back”, Rakeem Boyd showed flashes of his old self on Saturday night, rushing for 100 yards for the first time this season. He also averaged over five yards per carry and scored a touchdown.

Coming into the game, Boyd rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries. He looked like a shell of his former self, but finally had that one breakout game.

This performance against the Aggies could end up going a long way in building confidence for the senior running back and if Saturday was any indication, Sam Pittman still has plenty of faith in Boyd to be the workhorse.

Trelon Smith was pushing Boyd for carries all season long and even filled in when he was injured but on Saturday, Rakeem out-rushed his backup 18-5. This is a good sign for Boyd.

Having the staff still believe in him and the line open up holes makes you think we’re going to see that 1,000-yard rusher who averaged over six yards per carry soon enough.
