Arkansas Football: 3 takeaways from tough road loss at Texas A&M
1. Arkansas still a year or two away
Feleipe Franks isn’t going to be back next year (unless he chooses to pursue an extra year) and the same goes for a guy like Rakeem Boyd, but even without those guys, Arkansas is trending in the right direction.
Those guys helped set up a culture change in Fayetteville and they’ll be remembered for that.
But it’s clear that Arkansas is probably a couple of years away from truly being a threat in the SEC. That’s not to say the Razorbacks haven’t been a pleasant surprise this season because I, for one, have been shocked at how well they’ve played. They look like a completely different team this season compared to the last 5-6.
Sam Pittman is building something special in Fayetteville and it’s been clear this year as the Razorbacks have been in every single game and they’ve faced four ranked opponents in five outings. They hung with Georgia for a half and even had a lead, beat Mississippi State, should have beaten Auburn, took down Ole Miss and then kept it close against Texas A&M.
Arkansas is solid, but it’s still a year or two away, folks. Be patient.
