College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 11
By Zach Bigalke
The marquee matchup on the opening weekend of Pac-12 play went down to the wire in Los Angeles, and the favorite in the Pac-12 North was ahead only 14-7 by halftime of their divisional duel against Stanford at Autzen Stadium. Mario Cristobal’s team looked fairly ranked at No. 12 in the AP Top 25, and that is where the Ducks will remain after taking care of business against the Cardinal.
Tyler Shough looked solid in his first half as the new Oregon starter at quarterback, completing nine of his 12 first-half passes for 142 yards with a touchdown and an interception. CJ Verdell looked every bit the running back he was last season despite the completely retooled offensive line, putting up 32 rushing yards and a score and adding a 23-yard catch in the opening two frames against the Cardinal defense.
The Ducks head into Week 11 firmly embedded as the favorite in the Pac-12 this season, having confirmed that they have the talent to remain atop the North despite all the losses from last year’s league championship roster. Oregon will be tested again when they take to the road for the first time to face Washington State in Pullman, but the biggest remaining obstacles come in the back half of the Ducks’ short season.
