3. Georgia’s defense is not as good as we thought

Over the past decade, some of the best defensive slugfests have occurred in the southeast. However, this season has been the outlier, in terms of the expectation of defense. This game was an example of how the conference has been headlined by offensive stars.

Much credit goes to Florida for playing a great first half. However, Georgia fans would tell you, the offense wasn’t good either. With scoring 21 points and knowing what the defense’s standards are, that many points should keep them in every game.

This game, specifically for Georgia, exemplified what we’ve seen through the first five weeks of the season. For Florida, it was quite an underwhelming first four minutes on defense, getting into a 14-0. After that, Bennet and the run game was completely taken out of the game.

The quarterback situation should definitely put head coach Kirby Smart under serious pressure. They’ve had Justin Fields in the program and Smart picked Jake Fromm over him. Now, they have a very talented and healthy J.T. Daniels and Smart refuses to give him a chance.

The Bulldogs have a multitude of injuries, including not having Richard Lecounte puts them in a bind. However, with how well they recruit and player development, giving up that many yards and points should not be a valid excuse.

The second half was a much better performance, keeping the Gators wide receivers in front of them, and keeping the Bulldogs in the game.

For the Gators, they will be back in the swamp against Arkansas. For Georgia, they will be on the road next, facing off against the Missouri Tigers.
