Florida football took care of another SEC foe in Arkansas in Week 11 and the Gators did so with offense once again. Let’s dive into some hot takes.

A familiar face came to Gainesville with a different jersey on Saturday afternoon and left with a tough loss as Feleipe Franks came for a friendly reunion and was dealt a 63-35 loss.

Florida improved to 5-1 on the season with the win and the Gators look like serious playoff threats. Dan Mullen has to be happy with his team after six games but there’s more work to do.

Let’s get into some hot takes.

3. There will be no drop-off at quarterback next year

Call me a believer or an optimist, but if I’m a Florida Gator fan, I feel good about the quarterback position even after Kyle Trask leaves. While he might be the best quarterback to grace this program since Tim Tebow, Trask has quite the backup in former blue-chipper Emory Jones.

I’m not basing my opinion on Jones strictly on his recruiting ranking — where he was the No. 85 recruit and fifth-best dual-threat in the nation in 2018 — but he just has the look of a talented quarterback who might just be the breakout star of 2021.

Jones got a rare appearance in garbage time on Saturday, passing for 29 yards and a touchdown on 4-of-7 completions and he ran for 37 yards and another score on six carries.

Florida may be losing Trask this offseason (unless he shocks everyone and exercises his free year of eligibility), but there won’t be much of a drop-off, if any, with Jones.
