2. LSU’s defense is horrid

The 2020 LSU defense is a far cry from the 2018 version and even last year’s. The departure of Dave Aranda has been a massive blow for this team as Bo Pelini just hasn’t cut it.

LSU recruits just as well as any team in the country outside of Alabama or Ohio State, so this isn’t a talent issue. No, this is a coaching and schematic issue. The Tigers are learning an entirely new defense this year and that’s led to one of the worst units in the SEC.

In fact, LSU has one of the worst passing defenses in the country, allowing over 335 yards per game through the air. This is an area that Feleipe Franks is definitely going to take advantage of, especially with his talented young receiving corps. Guys like Treylon Burks and Mike Woods will have field days against this mediocre secondary.

The run defense isn’t quite as bad as Arkansas’, but the Tigers do allow just over 140 yards per game on the ground.

If this game comes down to defense, LSU will be in trouble.
