2. Florida should make the playoff team regardless of SEC title

Florida is essentially a lock to make the SEC title game and there’s about a 90 percent chance the Gators win their final three games of the regular season to go into the game 9-1.

If that’s the case, Florida should be a top-four team heading into the SEC championship against a team like Alabama. Sure, the Gators could beat the Crimson Tide, but in the scenario where they lose by a close margin, I think Florida has proven that it’s worthy of a spot in the final four.

Let’s say the committee puts Florida in the playoff, who says no? Probably people outside the SEC because that’s just the nature of the playoff with only four spots available. But we saw Alabama make the playoff in 2017 despite not even winning its own division. What happened that year? Alabama won the national title as the No. 4 seed.

Precedents could rule the committee’s decisions this season and Florida may be the best team outside of the conference champions and would the committee take another elite SEC team or a Big 12/Pac-12 champion?

Florida should be a playoff team no matter what.
