1. Texas A&M misses playoff by just one spot

Heading into these final two games, Texas A&M is ranked fifth in the nation. The Aggies look like that team that won’t win a conference title but still might just sneak into the College Football Playoff. And I see the playoff committee taking two SEC teams this year.

So where does that leave the No. 5 Aggies right now?

Well, they will have to win their final two games convincingly and I believe they’ll do just that, but I also believe Florida is going to pull off the upset of Alabama in the SEC title game. What does that mean? That would be the worst-case scenario for the Aggies because in that case, the Gators would jump them from No. 6 and likely make it into that playoff field, knocking whoever loses the ACC title game out of the top four as well — or even Ohio State.

Texas A&M was looking like a team on the way down after losing to Alabama, but a win over Florida ignited this program and it looks like Jimbo Fisher turned a corner.

Unfortunately, he’ll have to wait until next year for a playoff appearance but that’ll be tough with a new quarterback.
