Everyone is already looking forward to the SEC title game, but Florida football has an important game remaining. Why will the Gators beat LSU?

Beating LSU has always been a tall task, especially over the past decade-plus, but this season has been an exception. The Tigers have been mediocre, at best, and Ed Orgeron has been left searching for answers as to why he went from national champs to 3-5 with no postseason in sight.

Florida, on the other hand, looks like one of the best teams in the country and a serious threat to make the College Football Playoff. Dan Mullen has done a fantastic job in a short time with this program as it looks like the Gators are back among the nation’s elite.

Here’s why the Gators will take down LSU to end the regular season 9-1.

3. LSU officially has nothing to play for

We can talk about the positives that winning this game could have for LSU, but truly, it’s nothing more than confidence and momentum heading into a long offseason. That’s not exactly something players are willing to sacrifice everything for.

No, I’m not questioning the motives of LSU in this game. I think the Tigers will give it their all, but they’re not playing for anything this postseason while Florida is.

LSU just imposed a bowl ban on itself after an internal investigation into the football program and that had to be a crushing blow for a number of players, especially the seniors hoping to end their careers on a high note. However, even an upset win over the No. 6 team in the country won’t be enough to put them into the postseason.

That type of news can derail a team’s mental state. We will see that on Saturday.
