1. Utah has something to build off of

Kyle Whittingham is one of the most underrated coaches in college football and that was never more obvious than before this season when everyone counted Utah out of any Pac-12 title race because of the losses of Zack Moss and Tyler Huntley, but the head coach found a way to end the season with back-to-back wins after an 0-2 start.

The Utes looked lifeless in a loss to USC to begin the year and then nearly pulled off the upset of Washington the week after. They improved each week after, beating an Oregon State team that upset Oregon and then toppling an undefeated Colorado squad.

Utah has the pieces to be really good next year, especially if Jake Bentley decides to return for another season. If he exercises that free year of eligibility, Utah will be a contender.

Even if he doesn’t, the Utes have something impressive to build on. The defense will be good next year and the offense has solid young pieces, led by freshman running back Ty Jordan.

It’s time to stop counting Whittingham-coached teams out.
