Florida Football: 3 reasons the Gators will beat Oklahoma in Cotton Bowl
Florida football is looking to finish the 2020 season on a high note but Oklahoma stands in the way. Here’s why the Gators will take care of business.
Wednesday night’s Cotton Bowl Classic could live up to its name as No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 7 Florida will square off. This will be one of the best bowl games of the year and should end in a shootout.
The Sooners are coming into this game red-hot, riding a seven-game winning streak after a disappointing 1-2 start. They slipped out of the AP Top 25 and looked like one of the nation’s biggest disappointments but the Sooners quickly rebounded and took control of the Big 12 and eventually won the league title — again.
Florida, on the other hand, started the season strong despite an upset loss at Texas A&M and was in position to push for a playoff spot until the regular season finale. The loss to a struggling LSU team was shocking and it crushed any hopes of a playoff berth. A loss to Alabama in the SEC title game extended the Gators’ losing streak to two.
All the momentum seems to be in Oklahoma’s favor heading into the Cotton Bowl matchup, but don’t let that fool you.
