Oklahoma football dominated Florida in the 2020 Cotton Bowl by a score of 55-20. How will these powerhouses look moving forward?

This year’s edition of the Cotton Bowl featured two of the most high-powered offenses from the 2020 regular season. Only one problem. One of these offenses were missing their top four receivers.

Florida came into this game without Kyle Pitts, Kadarius Toney, Jacob Copeland and Trevon Grimes. That was just on offense, as defensive backs Marco Wilson and Rashad Torrence also missed this game. This led to a severely undermanned Gator team taking a trip to Texas to take on a red-hot Oklahoma Sooner team.

The Sooners were missing starting cornerback Tre Brown, but came into this game relatively unscathed. And it showed on the field, as Oklahoma got off to a very fast start.

Spencer Rattler led the Sooners 79 yards in just two minutes on the opening drive to get a 7-0 lead. The Sooners would then pick off Kyle Trask on each of the Gators’ first three possessions. This put Florida in a 17-0 hole that they would ultimately never recover from.

Dan Mullen then made a decision to bring in Emory Jones for a series, which did work as Jones led them to their first touchdown of the game and closed the gap to just one possession. Trask would take back the majority of the reps but never found a groove. The Heisman contender finished 16 for 28 with 158 yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Oklahoma would expand the lead off the back of Rhamondre Stevenson who was outstanding in Jerry World. After being up 17-13 in the second quarter, the Sooners would go on a 38-7 run to cap off their eighth straight victory.
