With the No. 12 recruiting class for 2021, Florida football is hoping to close the cycle out on a high note with some big names left on the board.

Recruiting has not been a weakness of Dan Mullen since taking over at Florida. He currently has the No. 12 recruiting class in 2021 and the previous two groups finished ranked in the top 10 nationally. Elite talent is being brought in to replace elite talent which is something only real contenders can say.

Florida has enough talent to keep with the big boys in the SEC such as Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M and Alabama and if this elite recruiting trend continues, the Gators could finally win the conference crown.

Many are down on Mullen after losing the SEC title game as well as their New Year’s Six bowl against Oklahoma.

But there’s optimism on the horizon, starting with the 2021 class.

Who are the top remaining targets?

Three-star JUCO transfer Deyavie Hammond committed to Florida two years ago and there were some expecting him to sign during the early period, but the fact that he didn’t was concerning.

Hammond went to the now-famous Independence C.C., which was the focus of Last Chance U’s third and fourth seasons, and earned some national respect. He became the best offensive guard in the JUCO ranks and is the No. 12 overall prospect at that level in the 2021 class, according to the composite rankings on 247Sports.

The 6-foot-3, 330-pounder would be a huge addition to an offensive line that’ll need him next year, but there’s concern that he won’t end up signing.

If there’s some hangup, both sides need to get it figured out because they need each other.
