3. Classic teams
Speaking of history, how would the 2001 Miami Hurricanes have fared in present day? The Matt Leinart-Reggie Bush USC Trojans? The Vince Young-led Texas Longhorns? Imagine a dynasty mode with Tim Tebow’s Florida Gators, a West Virginia backfield that featured Pat White and Steve Slaton, a Brian Bosworth-led Oklahoma Sooner defense, and a loaded 2012 Alabama Crimson Tide team. Throw in some of today’s stars and power-houses, and that sounds like a recipe for one of the greatest college football seasons ever. Why can’t EA Sports College Football provide us with that experience?
Narrowing down 150 years of history to a couple dozen teams would be doable, but deserving teams would obviously be left out. Would it be solely for champions? If not, those with Heisman winners? Hall of Fame coaches? The deciding factors would be interesting. What classic teams or players would you most like to see?
Classic teams would also introduce the possibility of classic coaches. Would Steve Spurrier dominate in today’s game if given the opportunity? Paul “Bear” Bryant? Would Texas Mack Brown out-recruit North Carolina Mack Brown? How about Florida Urban Meyer versus Ohio State Urban Meyer?
