One of the best linebackers in the Midwest has to be atop Notre Dame’s 2022 class recruiting board and I’d be shocked if Sebastian Cheeks isn’t heavily pursued by the Irish and even more surprised if Brian Kelly doesn’t land him.

Although he’s from Evanston (hometown of Northwestern), it’s tough to turn down the Irish. The Big Ten has lost a number of big-time recruits to Notre Dame over the years and Cheeks will likely join that group in the near future.

Wisconsin might be the only thing standing in Notre Dame’s way right now as he advances through the recruiting process. The Badgers have a history of developing elite linebackers and that might be enough of a draw for Cheeks, but the Irish are competing for national titles right now.

Cheeks is ranked the No. 151 overall prospect in the country and is the 14th-best outside linebacker, according to the composite. This is going to be a heavyweight recruiting battle between Wisconsin and Notre Dame.

But you know that when Steve Wiltfong and Tom Loy both have crystal balls for a kid to come to Notre Dame, it’s nearly a lock. Looking good for the Irish here.
