Over the past few years, Notre Dame has developed some really good offensive linemen who have even been selected early in the NFL draft. If I’m Zach Rice, I see that and immediately add the Irish to my list of top schools.

It looks like there’s mutual interest between the two sides, but it’s going to be a tough haul for Notre Dame as it will be attempting to beat out Alabama, North Carolina and Ohio State for his services. That’s not exactly a cakewalk of a recruitment for Brian Kelly.

Rice is one of the top recruits in the nation for 2022, listed as a five-star and ranked No. 21 overall and as the top offensive tackle, according to the composite. Landing him would do wonders for the offense starting in 2022 as he could have an immediate impact. It’s tough to start on the line as a true freshman, but Rice is that good.

The Irish will be in the running for Rice until the end and he might end up being the most highly sought-after offensive lineman in the class.
