After almost winning the Pac 12 in 2020, USC Football is primed for another run at the conference title in 2021.

The Pac 12 had a very abbreviated season in 2020 and it almost resulted in USC football finishing the conference season unbeaten and with a Pac 12 championship.

USC was the king of coming back in the fourth quarter last season, but it will need to be a more complete team if they hope to get back to the Pac 12 championship and possibly make a playoff run. The Trojans have the talent and play in what is thought to be the weakest of the power five conferences.

The Trojans should have another dynamic offense but will have to replace some big-time playmakers on the outside. Amon-Ra St. Brown and Tyler Vaughns are now off to the NFL and that will mean that Bru McCoy and Drake London will have to carry bigger roles. USC is still looking to get a consistent running game going and hopes that Texas transfer Keontay Ingram can be the workhorse.

USC improved on defense a pretty good bit in 2020 with new defensive coordinator Todd Orlando coming over from Texas and USC looks to make an even bigger leap on that side of the ball in 2021. With guys like Chris Steele at cornerback and incoming five-star defensive end Korey Foreman, it is not out of the question for the Trojans to have one of the best defenses in the conference.

For USC, there is again going to be the hovering question about Clay Helton’s job status as the head coach?

The fanbase is tiring of Helton’s underachieving seasons with all of the talents at his disposal and if he can’t produce in 2021, it might be time for USC to consider changing leadership at the head coach position.
